Hotel Inspired by the Majestic Beauty of Taroko

The unique feature of The Lakeshore Hotel Hualien lies in its exterior design, which takes inspiration from the painting "The Beauty of Taroko" by master Ma Paisui. The strange and magnificent mountains and rocks, as well as the undulating sea of greenery depicted in the painting, are transformed into 3D pentagonal geometry and triangular patterns on the corridor and ceiling. The exterior walls of the building also mimic the natural appearance of sea waves, providing visitors with a comfortable and convenient resting place.

The realization of this design involved careful attention to detail and the use of advanced technology. The first floor of the building is designed with the concept of the undulating ridge of the mountains, with beams and columns shaped to form a pentagonal geometry. A wooden grille on the upper part brings transparency and a sense of penetration. The building facade is also designed with the natural impression of sea waves, using light-weight transparent glass to bring in the outdoor scenery and create a seamless connection with the natural environment.

In terms of functionality, the design team ensured that each room in the hotel is airy and well-ventilated by setting up different levels of building volume and a retreating staggered configuration. The upper floor is partially retracted to create a hierarchical volume and an interesting skyline shape. This not only maximizes daylighting but also solves the problem of blocking neighboring buildings, allowing the beauty of the environment to be shared.

Located in Hualien City, Taiwan, The Lakeshore Hotel Hualien offers not only breathtaking architectural beauty but also a convenient location. Situated on the side of the Taiwan Provincial Highway 9, the hotel provides direct access to the international airport, train stations, international seaports, and other important scenic spots in Hualien.
